Free Online DWG Viewer

Open DWG files online without AutoCAD. View layers, measure distances, and export PNG/PDF files from your browser.

How It Works

How to open a DWG file online

Step 1

Upload your DWG file

Drag a .dwg file onto the viewer, or click to choose one. The file is uploaded for conversion, then displayed in your browser.

Step 2

Explore the drawing

Zoom, pan, turn layers on or off, and measure distances with geometry snapping. Choose a dark or light canvas when reviewing drawings.

Step 3

Export as PNG or PDF

Download a PNG or PDF view of the drawing with measurements, ready to share with colleagues or add to a report.

Use Cases

When an online DWG viewer helps

Open AutoCAD files without AutoCAD

Engineers and reviewers can inspect DWG drawings in the browser without a CAD license. Check layers, dimensions, and layout details from any device.

Preview contractor drawings

Project managers can review DWG files from contractors without installing desktop CAD software. Open the drawing, check the relevant details, and keep the handover moving.

Share drawings across mixed teams

When not everyone uses the same CAD software, DWG files can slow reviews down. This viewer gives the whole team a simple way to open the drawing.

About DWG

What is the DWG file format?

DWG is AutoCAD's native binary file format. It stores 2D and 3D geometry, layers, blocks, annotations, and drawing metadata in a compact file. Architects, engineers, and construction teams use DWG for working drawings and technical documentation.

Because Autodesk does not publish the full DWG specification, browsers cannot read DWG files directly. Voltplot uploads the file for conversion, then renders the converted drawing in the browser. If you need a no-upload workflow, export DXF and use the DXF viewer.

Battery storage projects often involve DWG files for substation diagrams, site layouts, equipment placement, and grid connection drawings. The viewer lets project managers, analysts, and reviewers check those drawings without installing CAD software.
